MTD Kingston ZX 5-String Electric Bass Guitar - Deep Cherry Burst

The MTD Kingston ZX is a precision-crafted 5-string bass built for players who demand the feel, tone and refinement of a premium professional instrument—without compromise. As the flagship of the Kingston lineup, it brings together elite craftsmanship, sophisticated electronics and a performance-first ethos, channeling decades of MTD innovation in extended-range bass design. A resonant mahogany body paired with a striking figured maple top delivers both authority and definition, while the asymmetrical 35" maple neck with carbon-fiber reinforcement ensures comfort, stability and speed across all five strings. Add proprietary Bartolini USA electronics, Hipshot tuners and the Buzz Feiten Tuning System, and the Kingston ZX stands ready for the most demanding stages and studio sessions.

Mahogany Body With Figured Maple Top for Power and Precision

The tone of the Kingston ZX begins with a premium foundation. Mahogany adds rich, deep low end and natural warmth, while a figured maple top tightens the attack and enhances articulation where slap accents, chord voicings and melodic leads need to shine. Sleek body contours and refined ergonomics make extended sessions comfortable, and finish options like Gloss Trans Mocha and Satin Deep Cherry Burst deliver true boutique presence under stage lights. Whether the sound demands subtle support or commanding projection, this body construction delivers both voice and versatility.

Asymmetrical Maple Neck Built for Pro-Grade Stability and Comfort

MTD’s signature asymmetrical maple neck profile is engineered for fatigue-free performance. Slightly thinner on the treble side, it naturally follows the shape of the fretting hand, creating a fast and relaxed feel during extended sessions. Carbon-fiber reinforcement ensures rock-solid stability across the full 35" scale—critical for maintaining clarity and sustain on the low B. A 10"–14" compound-radius maple fingerboard supports fluid runs and clean chording across all 24 frets, while the Buzz Feiten Tuning System delivers consistently accurate intonation in every position.

Bartolini USA Electronics for Elevated Sonic Authority

The Kingston ZX earns its flagship status with a full Bartolini USA electronics package. Dual-coil soapbars provide a wide dynamic range, thick harmonic content and exceptional note separation—from thunderous fundamentals to articulate high-end detail. A Bartolini active three-band EQ offers ±12dB of premium boost and cut on bass, mids and treble, while the mid-frequency switch fine-tunes your punch and presence for any genre or room. From studio-clean precision to stage-shaking aggression, the ZX keeps your voice forward in the mix.

Road-Ready Hardware With Precision Engineering

The Kingston ZX is designed to take on the real demands of professional gigging. Hipshot Ultralite tuners eliminate neck dive while maintaining tuning integrity. The top-loading Quick Release bridge speeds up string swaps and enhances clarity and sustain. Combined with the ZX’s rigid neck construction and Buzz Feiten tuning accuracy, these features ensure consistency—night after night, show after show.

The Ultimate Expression of the Kingston Design Philosophy

For players who push the boundaries of modern bass, the MTD Kingston ZX delivers the full package: elevated tone, effortless playability and stage-worthy aesthetics. Designed by Michael Tobias and refined by skilled technicians in the U.S., it captures the spirit of MTD’s custom shop instruments while honoring the Kingston mission of accessibility. From high-energy touring to precision studio work, the ZX is the instrument you reach for when nothing but your best will do.
